Injury News NY Giants Safety Kenny Phillips Likely to Miss Game vs Cowboys

Kenny Phillips GiantsMore bad injury news NY Giants Safety Kenny Phillips likely to miss the game vs the Dallas Cowboys week 14.

Phillips suffered and injury during the week 13 game against the Green Bay Packers. He was able to get up and limp off the field but his facial expression would lead you to believe it wasn’t going to be good news for New York. The Giants released his injury status and sure enough number 21 suffered a sprained MCL which means in all likelihood he will miss this weeks important NFC East showdown against the Cowboys.

New York will be relying on yet another rookie in Tyler Sash to pick up the slack. Depending on how Phillips progresses with the injury he is expected to be out for at least a week. Unfortunately the New York Giants cannot catch a break in 2011, they have suffered injuries all season long which have prevented Big Blue from fielding an adequate defensive squad.

As for the rest of the teams injuries it is still unclear if Osi Umenyira Continue reading

Kenny Phillips Placed On IR – Giants Awarded Aaron Rouse

Safety Kenny Phillips was officially placed on the Injured Reserved list and is done for the season. The NY Giants were awarded Safety Aaron Rouse who was just cut by the Green Bay Packers yesterday.

Rumors started earlier today after head coach Tom Coughlin’s vague comments regarding the talented safety’s condition.

Phillips had a great game week 2 vs the Dallas Cowboys. He had two key interceptions which helped seal the victory for the G-Men, all this while playing hurt. Team doctors diagnosed him with patellofemoral arthritis in the left knee. The hope was that his condition would improve but unfortunately for Big Blue it got worst.

Kenny is an integral part of our secondary and will be missed. He had a very good rookie year and was looking to expand on his added experience which Tom Coughlin thought would be good enough to make the pro bowl.

Kenny was quoted as saying “It never crossed my mind, ever,”. “I knew the situation. I just felt I could push it through the season. So to get this news is a real shock.” I am sure Giants fans are also surprised and shocked at this latest news after his performance on Sunday night.

Injury Report for 9/27/09 Week 3 vs Tampa Bay

The injury report for week 3, 9/27/09 does not look good.

Justin Tuck has a partially torn labrum on his left shoulder and may not play this Sunday vs Tampa Bay. Kenny Phillips has a bad knee and there seems to be talk that he may be placed on the season ending injured reserved list. As per Adam Schefter the Giants and coach Tom Coughlin are being very vague about his injuries. (It is official Kenny Phillips placed on IR out for the season)

It was also reported that Tuck has had this same injury in the past throughout college and was able to play through it without missing a game.

The next three games for New York are at the Tampa Bay Bucs, at Kansas City Chiefs and a home game versus the Oakland Raiders. The schedule is favorable for resting Justin but the news on Phillips seems very serious and would be a big blow for Big Blue’s defense.
