New York Giants Inexplicably Failed to Show Up Against Redskins

giants vs redskins week 15No other way to put it but inexplicable, the New York Giants failed to show up against the Washington Redskins week 15. The final score 23-10.

If you didn’t know the records or positioning of each team you would have thought the Redskins were fighting to get into the playoffs. In fact it is the Giants who are fortunate enough to even be in a position where they control their own destiny. Unfortunately they still found a way to play uninspired in this crucial game.

Week 15 was another embarrassing performance reminiscent of week 12 when they played the New Orleans Saints. Pathetic would also accurately describe the performance by Big Blue. The only New York Giants player who can hold his head up high is Jason Pierre-Paul.  Continue reading

Mario Manningham’s Dropped TD Blessing In Disguise for NY Giants

Mario Manningham vs Cowboys Week 14It may turn out to be the best drop a player ever had. Mario Manningham dropped a TD in the final drive against the Dallas Cowboys in week 14 which would have given the Giants the lead. That dropped pass may have turned out to be a blessing is disguise for the Giants.

Manningham who is a talented wide receiver, has the ability to break a short pass for a huge gain at any time but unfortunately he is also known for having butterfingers. In a game where both teams played Swiss cheese defense this play turned out to be huge.

The drop by the Giants WR occurred with 1:27 left on the clock. If he would have caught that pass Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys would have had that time left to start their final drive. Instead New York was forced to run a few more plays which eventually led to a Brandon Jacobs TD run. There were 46 seconds left on the clock at this point in Continue reading

NY Giants Leap Over Dallas Cowboys in Crazy NFC East Game

NY Giants Leap Beat Cowboys Week 14Literally, the New York Giants leap over the Dallas Cowboys week 14 and win 37-34 in an NFC East showdown. The win places the GMEN in first place.

This was a crazy game, there is just no other way to describe it. A seesaw battle full of lead changes and dramatic moments which ultimately defined the game.

Early in the game Giants RB Brandon Jacobs leaps over Cowboys Safety Gerald Sensabaugh in a spectacular run. Late in the game New York’s Jason Pierre-Paul leaps and blocks a Dan Bailey FG attempt which preserves the 3 point lead and gives Big Blue a needed victory over their arch rivals. A positive and exciting win for sure but Continue reading

Saints QB Drew Brees Dissects New York Giants Defense

Drew Brees vs GiantsNew Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees Dissects the New York Giants defense week 12 and blows them out of the Superdome. Final score 49-24.

Second straight week in which New York seemed completely out of it. They displayed little passion out on the field and their glaring weaknesses are now being exposed as they face tougher opposition. The Giants now find themselves in a familiar place, right smack in the middle of a second half collapse which has become a recurring theme under coach Tom Coughlin.

What is really frustrating for fans is that everyone knows the Giants season is on the line yet they are not playing like it. Missed tackles, dropped balls, dumb penalties have plagued the GMEN this season but even more surprising is the lack of a rushing attack and even more surprising than that is Continue reading

NY Giants Embarrassed Themselves Against The Philadelphia Eagles

NY Giants vs Philadelphia EaglesThe New York Giants fail to show up and embarrassed themselves against the Philadelphia Eagles at home in one of the most important games of the season, final score 17-10.

A win versus their divisional opponent would have practically destroyed any aspirations the Eagles had for the playoffs. It would have also meant that the Giants would be in sole possession of first place in the NFC East. New York now has company in the form of the surging Dallas Cowboys.

It’s almost inconceivable to think New York could lose this game. Two of the Eagles best players were out, QB Michael Vick and WR Jeremy Maclin. The Giants stopped LeSean McCoy holding him to 53 yards until he broke a 60 yard run in the last seconds of the game which was pretty much inconsequential. Vince Young threw 3 interceptions during the game and Philadelphia scored only 17 points. If you knew all this information but had yet to watch the game, I’m sure most would have thought the Eagles lost the contest. Unfortunately for Giants fans anything and everything is possible. Week 11 Philadelphia Eagles vs NY Giants Preview

Philadelphia Eagles vs NY Giants PreviewPreview NFC East battle week 11 the Philadelphia Eagles vs the NY Giants on Sunday night at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford NJ.

Records never matter when NFC East teams face off, these games are always tough and played hard by both teams. New York however if in the playoff hunt with a record of 6-3 and a-top the division while Philadelphia is 3-6 and looking to run the table in order to have a chance to make the playoffs.

Statistically these two teams are evenly matched in certain categories but differ greatly in others. It remains to be seen if Michael Vick will play week 11, the Giants already know they will be missing some key players including their starting running back Ahmad Bradshaw. Here is how these rivals stack up. Continue reading

Kevin Gilbride’s Conservative, Predictable Play Calling Hurts New York Giants

Kevin Gilbride New York Giants OffenseIs Offensive Coordinator Kevin Gilbride’s conservative and predictable play calling hurting the New York Giants?

No one is perfect and I’m not advocating firing the man but he has a history of making bad play calls at crucial times, I still remember his horrible play calls in the 4th quarter in 2009 against the San Diego Chargers which cost the GMEN the game. He is very conservative at the start of games and only opens up the playbook in 4th quarters when the Giants find themselves behind.

I wonder sometimes if having an aggressive offensive coordinator could help New York win without having to mount these late come backs which do not always work as seen this past week against the San Francisco 49ers. On twitter he is known as Continue reading
