Seriously, Brandon Jacobs needs a new TD dance! The big New York Giants RB looked more like a Chippendale's dancer than a bruising running back.

I'm very happy to see Brandon running with authority and purpose once again. He has progressed very nicely the last few weeks and had a break out game week 14 against the Dallas Cowboys. Jacobs rushed for 101 yards on 19 carries and scored 2 touchdowns.

This dance is a bit disturbing, funny and weird all rolled into one. Here is the video.

Brandon Jacobs TD Dance vs Cowboys

I will say this much, I prefer to see him doing this weird dance rather than getting a penalty flag. He has been close to getting flagged the last couple of weeks, every time he scores he stands over defenders or gets into a shoving match. It's all in good fun no matter how disturbing it is but Brandon Jacobs maybe it's time to consider doing a different TD dance celebration.

The win places the GMEN in first place.

This was a crazy game, there is just no other way to describe it. A seesaw battle full of lead changes and dramatic moments which ultimately defined the game.

Early in the game Giants RB Brandon Jacobs leaps over Cowboys Safety Gerald Sensabaugh in a spectacular run. Late in the game New York's Jason Pierre-Paul leaps and blocks a Dan Bailey FG attempt which preserves the 3 point lead and gives Big Blue a needed victory over their arch rivals. A positive and exciting win for sure but Giants fans need to be cautious as the defense continues to be extremely porous and is a serious concern going forward.

New York Giants Who Played Big vs Dallas Cowboys

Despite bad defense by New York and some miscues on offense by a few players there were some standout performances.

Jason Pierre-Paul (JPP) is a BEAST! He ranks 5th overall in sacks with 12.5 among NFL players. More impressive than that stat is how valuable he has become for New York, he may be the best defensive player on the Giants. Week 14 against the Cowboys Jason Pierre-Paul recorded 2 sacks, 6 tackles and forced a fumble and blocked what would have been the game tying field goal. He gives the Giants 100% effort week in and week out. As I have written in previous articles, I am very impressed with this young man who sometimes finds himself making tackles 20 yards down field.

Brandon Jacobs had himself a game reminiscent of his glory years when he would punish defenders who tried tackling him. He rushed 19 times for 101 yards and 2 TD's. I have not been very kind to the big bruiser because he has not committed to running the ball the way he should. Jacobs is effective when he runs north and south straight into a hole. In previous weeks he has straddled the line looking for holes, that doesn't work for him. Brandon is way to big to start, stop and start again, he needs to be a locomotive and week 14 he was just that!

Hakeem Nicks had 7 receptions for 154 yards, he did not score a TD but helped set up a couple of scores. He caught a 64 yard bomb early in the game which led to a field goal. WR Victor Cruz gets most of the hype every week because he has also performed at a high level but Nicks is the best wide receiver the Giants have. He is big, strong and reliable. Hakeem also does a great job blocking down field for other players.

Eli Manning has to be the coolest customer in the NFL. I have argued many times that his demeanor is a plus for New York. He is never to high and never too low, nothing seems to faze him. His calm demeanor may be seen as a negative to some such as Tiki Barber but the truth is that Eli is one of the most competitive players in the NFL. If anyone questions that just look at all the comebacks he has orchestrated this season. Manning went 27 of 47 for 400 yards, 2 TD's and 1 INT in week 14 versus the Cowboys. He never gave up and had two GREAT late drives to put the Giants in a position to win once again.

Week 14 Negatives for New York

Unfortunately it isn't all good for New York. A win is a win no matter what but this could have easily been another close loss. The Giants defense as mentioned above is extremely porous. Tony Romo torched the secondary week 14, he threw for 321 yards and 4 TD's. Wide receivers such as Dez Bryant, Laurent Robinson and Miles Austin found themselves wide opened on several occasions leaving the Giants secondary looking at eachother perplexed trying to figure out who blew the coverage.

Granted the GMEN have a lot of key injuries, this does not go unnoticed. I mention this fact every week but that still is no excuse for the team to be so unprepared defensively. I'm not an NFL player and I know it's hard to get out on that field to compete especially for rookies but on certain plays New York looks completely lost. This isn't a rare occurrence either, seems to happen on a weekly basis. Perry Fewell needs to tighten up the defense if the Giants have any hope of making the playoffs and/or making an impact once they get there.

Kevin Gilbride is not my favorite offensive coordinator, as I have written before he is predictable and too conservative and in love with the draw play. Maybe it's time to consider running a fast pace offense, I'm no expert but Eli Manning excels in the 2 minute offense. Running a version of a hurry up offense would help Eli who seems to like the flow and would also put a lot of pressure of opposing defenses.

Many people compare this team and season to the 2007 championship run. There are some similarities but a glaring difference with this team as compared to the 2007 squad is DEFENSE. The 2011 version of the Giants currently does not play good enough defense to duplicate such a run.

Final score 49-24.

Second straight week in which New York seemed completely out of it. They displayed little passion out on the field and their glaring weaknesses are now being exposed as they face tougher opposition. The Giants now find themselves in a familiar place, right smack in the middle of a second half collapse which has become a recurring theme under coach Tom Coughlin.

What is really frustrating for fans is that everyone knows the Giants season is on the line yet they are not playing like it. Missed tackles, dropped balls, dumb penalties have plagued the GMEN this season but even more surprising is the lack of a rushing attack and even more surprising than that is the lack of a pass rush which is usually the strength of Big Blue. Injuries have also contributed greatly to the Giants woes but there is no excuse for lacking passion and drive in critical games.

The Green Bay Packers had an injury plagued season last year and still found a way to win a Super Bowl with a lot of backups. Oh and by the way Aaron Rodgers and the Packers come into New York week 13, if you thought this was bad you better hold on to your seat.

Giants Playoff Chances Are Painfully Dwindling Away

The New York Giants are now 6-5 and in all probability they will be 6-6 after week 13 when they play the Super Bowl champs. They would literally need to run the table and end 10-6 to even have a shot at the playoffs. Last season the NY Giants had a 10-6 record and did not qualify for the playoffs but a team like the Seattle Seahawks with a record of 7-9 did.

If the GMEN lose next week they would need to beat the Cowboys twice, the Jets and Washington Redskins. Is it still possible? Sure it is but which Giants team are we going to see on the field? The team which beat the Patriots and gave the 49ers all they could handle or the team that has failed to show up the last 2 weeks?

New York Giants Defense Disappointing Performance

QB Drew Brees was 24 for 38, he threw for 363 yards and 4 touchdowns and even ran for a TD. Brees got comfortable in the pocket especially with the lack of pass rush. Osi Umenyiora suffered an injury to his ankle and did not play in the second half of the game. Osi, Justin Tuck nor Jason Pierre-Paul were able to really pressure the New Orleans QB, in fact the Giants as a team did not record a sack. New York wasn't much better defending the run, they gave up a total of 205 rushing yards week 12, they had no answer for Mark Ingram, Pierre Thomas and Darren Sproles.

The defense seemed confused and many times weren't properly set to play, ESPN commentator Jon Gruden kept pointing out how disorganized the defense looked. At one point they only had 10 players on the field and were bailed out by a penalty on a New Orleans lineman who moved early. Missed tackles and poor coverage was rampant in this game for Big Blue.

Jason Pierre-Paul was in my opinion the only bright spot on defense. He ran hard the whole game and made a key tackle in the first quarter when the Saints attempted to get a first down on a faked field goal. On another play he rushed Drew Brees and then ended up making a tackle about 25 yards down field which may have saved a TD. While other lineman stood and watched JPP ran his butt off and displayed effort the rest of the defense seems to lack.

Eli Manning and The Giants Offense

In the first quarter Eli Manning threw an interception inside the end zone. TE Jake Ballard was the target and even though the ball was a bit under thrown by Manning it could have been a TD if Ballard would have not been in the air on a ball he did not have to jump for. With that being said Saints LB Will Herring made a heck of a play to get that INT.

Besides that INT Eli Manning had himself a great game going 33 of 47 for 406 yards and 2 TD's. Everyone will be raving about Bradon Jacobs performance because he ran better than last week which isn't really saying much. Yes he did get a TD but he had 46 yards rushing on 13 carries so lets not get carried away. Jacobs could have easily been flagged after his TD, he proceeded to taunt and over celebrate after he scored yet the Giants were still down 21-10, it was ridiculous!

Victor Cruz had another solid game catching 9 passes for 157 yards and 2 touchdowns. He did however have another drop late in the 2nd quarter which stalled a drive. Victor Cruz tends to take his eyes of the ball and starts running before he has secured the catch, this has happened a few times this season and has led to drops.

This New York Giants team will be in a must win game every single week from now on, it remains to be seen if they can rise to the challenge or if they will dwindle away. The New Orleans Saints and QB Drew Brees put a spanking on the Giants this week, for the sake of loyal Giants fans lets hope they wake up and start playing with some pride.

A win versus their divisional opponent would have practically destroyed any aspirations the Eagles had for the playoffs. It would have also meant that the Giants would be in sole possession of first place in the NFC East. New York now has company in the form of the surging Dallas Cowboys.

It's almost inconceivable to think New York could lose this game. Two of the Eagles best players were out, QB Michael Vick and WR Jeremy Maclin. The Giants stopped LeSean McCoy holding him to 53 yards until he broke a 60 yard run in the last seconds of the game which was pretty much inconsequential. Vince Young threw 3 interceptions during the game and Philadelphia scored only 17 points. If you knew all this information but had yet to watch the game, I'm sure most would have thought the Eagles lost the contest. Unfortunately for Giants fans anything and everything is possible.

What Went Wrong for The Giants Against The Eagles?

Pretty much everything went wrong for the Giants against the Eagles, they didn't catch, run, block, protect or apply pressure on QB Vince Young who had all day to throw the ball. The GMEN did actually stop the run for about 59 minutes of the game but then that too changed in the blink of an eye.

Lets start with pass protection, Eli Manning was harassed all night, the Giants offensive line was manhandled by the Eagles defensive line. Manning was sacked 3 times but was hit, pushed and knocked down a ton of times. He seemed to have someone in his face almost every pass play and was never allowed to get comfortable. You can credit Philadelphia's D line to some degree but you cannot excuse New Yorks offensive line.

On the opposite end New York's defensive line went MIA - Missing in Action recording only 1 sack by Jason Pierre-Paul and rarely getting in the face of QB Vince Young. As a matter of fact Young looked uncomfortable the first half due to rust and lack of playing time but once he realized the Giants defenders weren't pressuring he became comfortable and began throwing the ball much better. Osi Umenyiora and Justin Tuck were held in check by Philadelphia's "O" line. Despite the lack of pass rush there did not seem to be adjustments by defensive coordinator Perry Fewell. The lack of pass rush seems to be an ongoing thing now, it began in the last quarter against Tom Brady and the Patriots week 9, continued against Alex Smith and the 49ers week 10 and now in week 11.

Perry Fewell continues to send his front 4 and sprinkles in a blitz here and there and even if it doesn't work there doesn't seem to be a sense of urgency to try something different. I'm sure this makes Giants fans miss the aggressive style Steve Spagnuola.

The Giants receivers also had some huge drops. The usually sure handed TE Jake Ballard dropped 3 catchable passes from Eli Manning including one in the first quarter where he was wide open and would have given the GMEN a first down. Hakeem Nicks was unable to hold on to a ball which he had in his grasp, it would have been a great catch that would have continued the drive. The refs completely missed an obvious pass interference call on Asante Samuel who practically mugged the NY WR. Victor Cruz also dropped and easy catch with about 40 seconds left in the 1st half. Cruz did have a solid game though with 6 receptions for 128 yards and TD.

The Giants running game was non existent, it's almost comical to say that Brandon Jacobs led the way with 21 rushing yards on 12 carries, Darrell Scott had 11 yards on 2 carries.

Kevin Gilbride and Brandon Jacobs Continue Hurting New York

Once again Offensive Coordinator Kevin "KillDrive" Gilbride and his favorite running back Brandon Jacobs hurt the New York Giants. As stated in my previous article on Gilbride, he tends to fall in love with plays and becomes incredibly predictable.

Against the 49ers last week on a crucial 3rd and 2 he called a draw play for Brandon Jacobs which got stuffed. So what does he do this week? In the 3rd quarter after RB Darrell Scott runs for 9 yards and puts Big Blue in a 3rd and 1 situation Kevin Gilbride calls a draw play for Brandon Jacobs. The result is the same as last week, Jacobs gets stuffed! Any reasonable person would think that maybe it would be a good idea to call another play and to allow Scott to continue running. Why would that make sense though? Scott is just faster and more elusive than Brandon Jacobs and running a more talented rusher would probably mean a first down which would hurt Kevin Gilbrides reputation as "KillDrive".

Tom Coughlin addressed the media after the game and was visibly upset and disappointed. His team did not show up to play on Sunday night. There were ample opportunities to win this game yet New York as usual made mistake after mistake. Coach Tom Coughlin cannot afford another second half melt down by the Giants, I am certain he will be fired if that were to happen. The NY Giants embarrassed themselves against the Philadelphia Eagles week 11 and this loss may turn out to be the one that starts that dreaded second half collapse.

A team source reported to the New Jersey Star Ledger that his chances of playing do not look good despite some positive signs of improvement on his fractured foot. This is a big blow to New York, the team has been lacking a consistent rushing attack all season while their offensive line gets in sync and healthy.

Brandon Jacobs will most likely start week 11 but you can expect running back DJ Ware to see significant playing time if Bradshaw indeed cannot go.

Ware played important minutes against the San Francisco 49ers and was impressive in his limited time while Jacobs started strong he faded during the game forcing coach Tom Coughlin to make the mobve to the younger and more elusive RB.

As of now do not expect Ahmad Bradshaw to suit up Sunday night against the Philadelphia Eagles. He did not participate in practice on Wednesday we will keep you posted if any changes to his injury status comes up.

Game start time 4:15pm.

Once again New York is an underdog, this week they face the best rushing defense in the NFL. San Francisco is favored by 3.5 points in the latest Week 10 NFL Point Spread.

Similar to previous weeks the GMEN aren't given much of a chance to win this road game by football analysts. The combination of facing such a stout run defense without their best running back in Ahmad Bradshaw certainly will hurt the Giants but other factors do favor New York and an upset victory is very possible. Lets examine the stats, strengths and weaknesses of both teams.

On offense these teams are on opposite sides of the spectrum. New York led by Eli Manning has become one of the best passing teams ranking 6th in the NFL, unfortunately their rushing attack ranks 29th overall. San Francisco on the other hand has a strong rushing attack which places them 6th overall in that category, however their passing attack is weak and ranks 30th overall.

It remains to be seen which team will impose their strength but offensively each squad has a distinct advantage over the other.

Defensively the San Francisco 49ers have a clear advantage when it comes to defending the run. They are the best rushing defensive team in the NFL. This of course does not boast well for the NY Giants without Bradshaw and with their overall weak run game. New York will have to exploit the 49ers 22nd ranked pass defense. For Big Blue, Hakeem Nicks will be a key player, if he is ruled out for week 10 this will diminish the Giants chances to win. Nicks helps spread out the field and provides better opportunities for wide receivers Mario Manningham and Victor Cruz. It also provides more space for TE Jake Ballard.

Brandon Jacobs will also play a role, I would be very surprised if he ran for more than 70 yards but he can be used in a short pass game and screens. The only problem with that is Jacobs isn't very sure handed, it may be a good opportunity to give DJ Ware and Darrel Scott some touches.

Prediction for Week 10

It is obvious that New York will have a difficult time running the ball against the 49ers and that is what most analysts are harping on when making their picks. But the truth of the matter is that the Giants have been winning all season without a run game. The GMEN are used to winning games through the air.

San Francisco does run the ball very well and even though Big Blue ranks 24th defending the rush they have shown signs of improvement as players have come back from injuries.

Big Blue's pass rush will be very important, last week they applied pressure on Tom Brady and held him in check for 3 quarters. Will Alex Smith be able to handle such pressure coming from the likes of Justin Tuck, Osi Umenyiora and Jason Pierre-Paul? Smith has been mistake prone in past years, so far this season he has been much better but he has not faced many teams like the Giants. The Detroit Lions are the only great pass rush he has faced and I believe that New York is better. If the 49ers decide to just run the ball, New York may just stack the box and play good enough rush defense to control Frank Gore. The GMEN have been plagued by allowing one or two big runs per game which has hurt them in the rankings. This should be a grind it out type of game which favors New York as they are used to playing such contests on a weekly basis.

I truly believe there will be an upset this week and The NY Giants will defeat the San Francisco 49ers in week 10 by a field goal.

Game to be played on Sunday 11/6, 4:15pm at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA.

New York is currently an 8.5 point underdog versus New England. In part because it's a home game for the Patriots but also because the Giants have not been getting any respect despite their 5-2 record.

This game is winnable for the GMEN, even though the Pats also have a 5-2 record their defense has not been up to par this season. They are also coming off a bad loss against the Steelers who provided a blue print on how to play "Mr. Perfect" Tom Brady.

Of course the Patriots will make adjustments to give Brady different outlets so teams change their defensive approach but one thing that will be key for the Giants will be their pass rush. Currently the GMEN rank 1st overall with 26 sacks and you better believe Osi Umenyiora, Justin Tuck and Jason Pierre-Paul will be pressuring Tom Brady. This is an important game for New York, they have a tough schedule the rest of the way and even though these are the Bill Belichick Patriots they are beatable! Here are some stats to mull over.

Both offenses are high powered when it comes to their passing games. New England ranks 2nd overall passing while New York ranks 4th overall led by Eli Manning who is having the best season of his career.

When it comes to rushing the Giants have had a very difficult time getting their run game together, Brandon Jacobs has been very disappointing doing most of his talking to media outlets and absolutely none of the field. The offensive line has been hit by injuries but has also not played well regardless. Ahmad Bradshaw has done the best he can despite the line not providing much running room but he has had a large workload.

Eli Manning will be needed to come up big again along with Victor Cruz, Mario Manningham and hopefully Hakeem Nicks will be available. Jake Ballard is also an awesome security blanket for Eli. New England also has an array of talented receivers for Tom Brady, especially Wes Welker and their 2 tight ends.

Looking at the stats one thing is clear, the New England Patriots will give up some points and a lot of yards through the air which of course is the NY Giants strength on offense. The Patriots are ranked 32nd against the pass and have the same position as the last ranked overall defense.

The Pats are much better against the run defensively ranking 9th, which of course does not boast well for New York who has a non existent rush game right now. The Giants on the other hand have a decent pass defense but a horrible 28th ranked rushing defense which has allowed 100+ yard runners throughout the season including Reggie Bush last week.

As mentioned before a key will be pressuring Brady intelligently. They cannot over pursue or be over aggressive cause Brady will pick them apart with a short pass game.

Week 9 Prediction

This should be a high scoring affair, it's a funny game to predict because the Giants play well againts the better teams in the league but they tend to get behind quickly. If the GMEN fall behind fast, I'm not sure Tom Brady and the Patriots will allow them to make another epic comeback.

The 8.5 NFL Point Spread seems high to me especially since I do believe the NY Giants will defeat the New England Patriots in a close one at Foxborough.

I am not writing this article as a prisoner of the moment due to Jacobs recent comments about not wanting to be in New York next season. For the last two years I have been writing and expressing my thoughts on how overrated Brandon is especially when compared to standout RB Ahmad Bradshaw.

In 2009 I wrote "Brandon Jacobs Running Softly" after watching the 6'4" 260+ pound back consistently tippy toe throughout the field like a ballerina instead of an NFL running back.

After his comments this past week Jacobs comes back from injury gets on the field and does absolutely nothing! He carried the ball 4 times for 10 yards which averages out to 2.5 yards per carry. He also dropped a short pass from Eli Manning which hit his hands perfectly. He eventually caught one pass for zero yards.

What was more disheartening was watching Brandon Jacobs run, at one point he took a hand off and ran right up to the line extended his left arm out and began doing his usual ballet dance behind a lineman until he got tackled gaining zero yards. This is a recurring theme for the big running back, not only this season but this has plagued him for the past 3 seasons now. Jacobs does not hit holes hard anymore, he just tippy toe's himself up to the line, leans forward and becomes an easy tackle. Sad to say that about a player with his size and potential. He has lost a step and at some point or another he lost the guts needed to run through holes or opposing players.

Brandon Jacobs on the Decline

In 2011 Brandon Jacobs has carried the ball 42 times for a total of 126 yards (3.0 yards on average), he has been injured and when healthy has played poorly behind a more talented and explosive player in Bradshaw. With all that being said Jacobs actually has the nerve to complain about how the Giants are using him? He is lucky to have a job not only with the GMEN but in the NFL.

He gets paid more than Ahmad Bradshaw and contributes less, and now is becoming a cancer on the team with his big mouth. New York has done him a favor by making him the backup and practically extending his career. That role helped him have somewhat of a resurgence last season in 2010 when he carried the ball 147 times for a total of 823 yards, that's an average of 5.6 yards per carry with 9 TD's. The backup role suits him at this stage of his career and prolongs his time in the NFL. Even with somewhat better stats in 2010 he was still very frustrating to watch especially in goal line situations where he is not very effective at all.

Compare those 2010 stats as a backup to his 2009 stats as a starter. In 2009 he carried the ball 224 times for a total of 835 yards, that is only 3.7 yard on average per carry and only scored 5 touchdowns. The truth is Brandon Jacobs had a couple of good years for the Giants in 2007 and 2008 but he has been on the decline since 2009.

Does Brandon really think there is a market out there for him or that there are teams willing to trade for a big running back who runs small? I understand pride gets in the way but instead of complaining he should appreciate his situation with New York, which has him currently as the highest paid RB on the team despite his lack of production.

The New York Giants should consider benching or even cutting Brandon Jacobs and allowing Da'rel Scott or DJ Ware an opportunity to play and show what they have to offer.

/>The NY Giants officially ruled out Justin Tuck, Brandon Jacobs, Chris Snee and Henry Hynoski for week 6 against the Buffalo Bills.

New York who has had a battered roster this year was hopeful to get some of their starters back even though Tuck would have been a long shot with his groin and neck issues. Prince Amukamara as expected will not play but the GMen are hopeful he will be back soon as he has progressed well through his rehab.

Unfortunately for the Giants more bad news may come in the next two days. Center David Baas is still questionable for Sundays game as is Zak DeOssie the long snapper.

There aren't many bright spots when it comes to injuries for Big Blue but Osi Umenyiora and linebacker Michael Boley are expected to suit up and play this upcoming Sunday. Osi has been a difference maker since coming back from his surgery playing along side second year player Jason Pierre-Paul.

The NY Giants have not caught any breaks this season when it comes to injuries, especially and more specifically when it comes to key players. Losing Terrelle Thomas and Dominik Hixon for the entire season and having a long list of hurt players on their weekly injury report. They have still managed to play admirably to a record of 3-2.

Hopefully for New York they can get Justin Tuck, Brandon Jacobs, Chris Snee and Henry Hynoski back after their bye week to face the Miami Dolphins.
