Preview week 6 of the 2011 season, the 4-1 Buffalo Bills vs the 3-2 NY Giants at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Game to be played Sunday 10/16 at 1:00 PM.
New York coming off a disappointing loss versus the Seahawks looks to bounce back against a revamped, talented Bills team. Buffalo on the other hand is coming off a victory against Giants NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles.
The G-Men seem to play up or down to their competition but they better be ready this week, the Bills are a confident bunch who have displayed an ability to score led by Ryan Fitzpatrick. Lets take a look at the stats for this matchup. Continue reading
Week 5 NY Giants vs Seattle Seahawks Preview 2011
Week 5 of the 2011 NFL season has the NY Giants versus the Seattle Seahawks, game scheduled for Sunday 10/09/11 at 1:00pm in the New Meadowlands.
Seattle brings its 1-3 record to New York to face the 3-1 Giants who are coming of an exciting comeback victory over the Arizona Cardinals. On paper this game should be an easy victory for the G-Men against a team they easily handled last season but then again last weeks game also looked pretty good on paper. Lets break down this match-up and look at the stats. Continue reading
Week 4 NY Giants vs Arizona Cardinals Preview
Week 4 of the 2011 NFL season has the NY Giants vs the Arizona Cardinals. Game is to be played on Sunday 10/2 at 4:05pm in Arizona.
The New York G-Men go into Glendale AZ with a record of 2 and 1 and on a huge high after beating the Philadelphia Eagles. The Cardinals have a record of 1 and 2 and are looking to get even to try and stay competitive in a weak division with the likes of Seattle, San Francisco and St. Louis.
These stats can be a little tricky, in the first 3 weeks both of these teams have faced and lost versus an improved Washington Redskins defensive team. The Giants have had to face another good defensive squad in the Eagles while the Cardinals have faced the Carolina Panthers and Seattle Seahawks.
The NY Giants better be careful, these type of match-ups can turn out to be trap games Continue reading
Week 3 NY Giants vs Philadelphia Eagles Preview
Oh oh, week 3 has the NY Giants facing the Philadelphia Eagles.
New York Giants fans remember the last time we played Michael Vick along with the explosive Desean Jackson. The Philadelphia Eagles have our number the past few seasons, no matter how good the G-Men play they always have found a way to lose the match ups at the end. Last years.
Last seasons second game was reminiscent of the previous year when Eli Manning ran for a first down but managed to fall awkwardly to the ground and fumbling the ball. Continue reading
Week 3 NY Giants vs Titans 9/26/10

Week 3 of the 2010 NFL season features the NY Giants vs the Tennessee Titans at the new Meadowlands, game is to be played on Sunday 9/26 at 1:00pm.
Both teams come into week 3 with a record of 1 and 1. New York was embarrassed last week by Peyton Manning and the Colts. They are looking to bounce back with what should be easier competition. They are favored by 3 points which isn’t saying much.
They face a Tennessee team with arguably the best running back in the game or at the very least the most explosive. Week one the Giants looked great defending the run when they faced off with Carolina but in week 2 it went down hill with their ridiculous defensive scheme versus the Colts. The Titans have a mini QB controversy between the old man Kerry Collins and Vince Young. Coach Fisher made it clear that his starter will be Young but he seems to have a very quick hook and little patience for the ex college super star.
Last week Big Blue coordinators contributed in positioning the G-Men behind the 8 ball with their game plans which took us away from the teams comfort zone. Lets hope this week Gilbride and Fewell have a better plan which would actually play to the Giants strengths.
On defense we need to abandon Fewell’s silly 5 and 6 defensive back sets, especially when facing Chris Johnson. The Titans passing attack is not that impressive which should allow our defense a chance to concentrate on defending the run.
On offense we need to establish the run!!! I know it would seem like a no brainer right? Well, keep in mind we have Kevin Gilbride calling the plays so anything is possible, as we witnessed several times last year and last week when he decided to get pass happy against a team who cannot defend the run and has two ridiculously talented pass rushers in Freeney and Mathis.
The NY Giants should win this game, now we have to wait and see what game plan the genius coaching staff has in store for us on Sunday afternoon.
Giants vs Colts Manning Bowl 9/19
The NY Giants face the Indianapolis Colts in the second installment of the Manning Bowl this Sunday night 9/19.
New York will be facing Indies high powered offense which includes the usual suspects Reggie Wayne, Peyton Manning of course and a solid core of young receivers such as Collie and Pierre Garcon. Anthony Gonzales seems to be banged up again and on the defensive side they will not have a very important player in Bob Sanders who seems to always be hurt.
The Colts come off a loss against the Texans where Foster ran all over them and once again exposed a glaring weakness in this team especially when Sanders is not playing. The NY Giants have a great opportunity to take advantage of the lack of run defense, using Ahmad Bradshaw to start the game and Brandon Jacobs to bruise that defense.
This isn’t the old Big Blue which relied only on a rushing attack, our wideouts are very dangerous and cannot be ignored. The Giants are 5 point underdogs for this game, a lot has to do with Peyton Manning and it being a road game for us but this game is very winnable.
New York woke up last week in the second half and had a good mix of runs and passes to keep Carolina off balance on defense. We have to continue that same game plan, I love the fact we are using Bradshaw more and allowing the nifty runner to do his thing. Jacobs needs to run harder, he still not back to the form of two years ago but looked better last week than he did last year. If the NY Giants are able to run on this soft Colts defense it will be an easy win.
Our defense features some new players and has some key pieces like Kenny Phillips back this year. We are not as soft as we were last year. We need Osi Umenyiora, Justin Tuck and Matias Kiwanuka to put some pressure on Manning to avoid him picking us apart. Indy does not have a great rushing attack which should allow our defense to play the pass much better, we faced two very dangerous runners last week and practically shut them down. This will be a huge plus versus the pass happy offense of Indianapolis who threw last week over 50 times!
I am picking the NY Giants to win this game and it isn’t just cause I am a huge fan. These are not the same Colts as in years past and we are much better than last year and this includes little brother Eli Manning who looked awesome last week!
NY Giants vs Carolina Panthers Week 1 – 9/12/10
The NY Giants open their 2010 NFL season vs the Carolina Panthers on Sunday 9/12/10 week 1.
2009 was a very disappointing season, New York ended 8-8 after starting off red hot at 5-0. They face a Carolina team who is also coming off a sub par season, both these teams missed the playoffs last year and are looking to bounce back.
The emphasis this year for Big Blue has to be the run game. New York fell to 17th overall last season averaging 114.8 yards on the ground per game. In 2008 the NY Giants were ranked as the number one rushing team in the NFL averaging 157.4 yards per game. The drop off was significant and can be attributed to several factors but the number one factor was the lack of power running from Brandon Jacobs. As I stated several times last year, watching Jacobs use that 264 pound frame to tippy toe around the field was frustrating to say the least. We need Brandon to be the bruiser he was the previous year and that will open up not only our passing game and provide a true change of pace when we insert Bradshaw into the game.
The Giants are favored by 7 points by the odds makers and on paper this should be a win. New York proved last year that their young wide receivers are extremely talented and dangerous. Our defense features some new faces including Antrel Rolle, Keith Bullock and Deon Grant. There are reports that Kenny Phillips is ready and may start over Grant on Sunday. Phillips was lost for the season last year and it really affected the G-Men, to top it off we lost several key defensive players for long periods of time.
Carolina currently has a new QB in Matt Moore after releasing veteran Jake Delhomme, we shall wait and see what type of chemistry he will have with the Panthers Steve Smith. There is no questions when it comes to the Panthers running game, they feature two very good backs in DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart, this duo ran wild on us last season when we faced Carolina. Our run defense was ranked 14th and definitely showed some holes allowing huge gains, again injuries played a huge factor.
I am one optimistic and excited NY Giants fan, unlike most experts including ex Giant back up QB Tim Hasselbeck who picked Big Blue to end last in the NFC East. Not many are giving us a chance this season but we have added some pieces which will help address some of the issues we had last season. Hopefully injuries will not play such a big role as it did in 2009. Manning is healed from his foot issues, his young wide receivers proved last year that they can play with the big boys in the NFL, all we need is Jacobs to run HARD. On defense we need Osi Umenyiora to find his Pro Bowl form and help Justin Tuck out, but I like the pieces we added on defense. Antonio Pierce was a good general for us on the field but he had definitely slowed down and was a liability last season, Bullock and the young linebackers should provide an added boost.
The NY Giants should win this Sunday and cover the NFL point spread.
