Eli Manning and NY Giants Getting No Respect

Eli Manning NY GiantsEli Manning has led the NY Giants to a record of 5-2 this 2011 NFL season, even though New York stands a top the NFC East they are getting no respect.

The latest slap in the face for New York comes from oddsmakers who currently have the GMEN as 8.5 point underdogs vs the 5-2 New England Patriots who rank (32nd) dead last in overall defense. It makes absolutely no sense even if you take into account that it will be a home game for New England, they rank last defending the pass and they will be facing the 4th best passing attack in the NFL!

Eli Manning also seems to be ignored by the so called "experts" when discussing the best quarterbacks in the NFL this season. Manning currently has the 3rd best QBR at 102.1 yet analyst still seem to put Philip Rivers in their top 5 ignoring the fact that he is having a horrible season and currently ranks 19th with a QB rating of 80.7. Watching ESPN, other sports news or listening to the radio it becomes clear analysts are ignoring the facts and cheerleading for their favorite players even ranking Carolina Panthers rookie QB Cam Newton ahead of Eli. it's not only ridiculous but it is almost inconceivable. Here are some stats comparing Manning to other QB's in the league.

It's time to start giving Eli Manning his due and respect. He has only thrown 5 interceptions, compare that to Philip Rivers who has thrown more interceptions than touchdowns even Drew Brees has thrown 10 int's this season. Another aspect of Eli's game which is being over looked is how clutch he has been for New York in 4th quarters. He completes 70% of his passes and his QBR jumps to 119.3 in the 4th quarter, talk about clutch!

New York Giants Team Getting No Respect

In the eyes of NFL analysts such as ESPN's Skip Bayless it is a given that the New York Giants will lose this upcoming week 9 versus the New England Patriots. Of course we know Skip has a man crush on Tom Brady, Tony Romo and Tim Tebow and as I have stated before he has lost any objectivity when it comes to discussing his favorite teams and players.

The Giants have the best pass rush in the NFL recording 26 sacks. What has been proven to work against Tom Brady? Pressure, making him uncomfortable and forcing him to move from his spots, there is no other team better equipped to do that than the Giants. Everyone keeps raving about how the Steelers have shown the NFL what works against Brady and the Patriots, but in fact the New York Giants had already done that in Super Bowl XLII in 2007 when they owned New England and pounced on Tom Brady.

No one has given Big Blue free wins in 2011, those wins were earned and played for. They could easily be 6-1 this season but regardless their 5-2 record should  be valued as much as the Patriots 5-2 record. Not sure why Eli Manning and the NY Giants are getting no respect but this week versus New England they will make non believers take notice!

Eli Manning has been better than ever this season yet he is still thought off as a second tier QB. Guess the Giants and their quarterback will have to run the table.

  • Jake B says:

This weeks game will go a long way to given Big Blue more respect along with Manning. He will be short handed it seems cause Hakeem Nicks doesnt look like he is going to play and I see you reporting that Ahmad Bradshaw has a broken foot. Not looking good but if Eli can pull o0ut a win it would be very impressive.

Would you really call Skip Bayless an NFL Analyst?
