NY Giants Osi Umenyiora May Play Week 4 vs Cardinals
New York Football Giants DE Osi Umenyiora hinted there is a chance he will play in week 4 versus the Arizona Cardinals.
Osi had limited practice on Friday and reported he was feeling much better. This is positive news for New York and it's fans who have been eagerly awaiting the talented defensive end since he had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee this summer.
Umenyiora has had a turbulent off season due to contract negotiations which have turned sour. He still had two years left on his contract but felt he had played well enough to warrant a new extended contract and the Giants did not oblige.
After Friday's practice session the Giants Defensive End was quoted saying
It's exciting, this is what I like to do, love to do. I will get a chance to do that, whether it's this week or whenever it is, I am excited about that.
Giants coach Tom Coughlin has yet to decide if Osi Umenyiora will suit up and play against the Arizona Cardinals, at this point it will be a game time decision. Number 72 will be traveling with the team which obviously bodes well for those fans hoping to see him on the field.
New York has suffered a stream of injuries this season and even though the defensive line has played well without Osi but it can only get much better when he returns especially if he continues to play at the level he did last year.
Some people felt as if Umenyiora would be a distraction this season due to his contract issues and there still remains a chance that the unhappy DE may become one. With that being said he also needs to get some playing time and perform above average in order to force the NY Football Giants to work out a new deal or potentially trade him if things don't work out.
It definitely would be a positive to see the NY Giants facing the Arizona Cardinals in week 4 with DE Osi Umenyiora on the field.
